Hi

This is the 15th issue of your Social Business Bites. If you want to check back on any previous issue, they are all at the archive page.

Each week as I'm scanning ridiculous amounts of information about social media, I look out for a few choice items for Social Business Bites. It's my fervent hope that you'll find each week at least one item of interest, and indeed of value for your business.

Do please let me know if you would like to see more - or less - of any type of content.

This week there is a real gem I just noticed today, with 61 social media tools to help small businesses manage the sometimes overwhelming task of keeping up. and an interesting article on how you can connect and interact with people of influence in your target market. Also a challenging item on Google+.

So without further ado, here is the list of items this week:

  • Getting Influencers Onside
  • Social Media Tools
  • Why Google+ ?

How to identify, build and retain social media influencers

Luke Chitwood, The Next Web  |  Short linkhttp://tnw.co/1nRV8IZ

When people tell me how some social media service provider has helped them increase their followers by x thousand and are clearly stoked by that, I can't help wondering how many of those followers are influencers - i.e. people whose opinion or words may prompt others to take action, like buying the products or services of the person I'm speaking to.

This article provides practical advice on how to find people of influence in your market sector, and how to build productive relationships with them.

Some of the tools listed and explained here, such as Buffer, are pretty well known, some were new to me. I saw several tools I have not used or not used enough, which I believe can make my social media activity more productive for less effort.

The list includes dashboard/management tools, tools for Twitter & Facebook, for analytics and monitoring, and for social media content, especially visual content, plus Wordpress plugins and miscellaneous other tools.

Why Your Business Should Use Google+

Amanda Clark, Business 2 CommunityShort link: http://bit.ly/1w0GOBf

When I mention Google Plus (Google+) to business people, I generally get one of two reactions: a) "Google what?" or b) "Oh no, not another platform we have to deal with!"

But much as there may be need for some additional learning and some additional time allocation, it's in every business owner's interest to:

  • understand how Google+ works and why it is important
  • have an up to date Google+ profile and consider a business page too
  • use Google+ to improve the business's "findability" on Google search

This article explains why, succinctly. A quick read and a good one.

On one of my VIP Days they can have my undivided attention for a whole day (or half day) to focus, one-on-one, exclusively on their business, and how to fully integrate social media with their overall business strategy. Using a video connection means they don't have to travel.
