This Week's Bites
What makes a tweet worth sharing? Are there certain types of tweets that perform better than others?
Short of being a famous celebrity,
we looked into Twitter timelines and Social Media research and found the common types of tweets that people love to share:
- Breaking news
- Tweets with images
- Tweets with facts and figures
- Tweets with calls to
action
- Tweets that are not too short or too long (read for the sweet spot band)
Just a couple of years ago a lot of business professionals would tell me in so many words that they either didn't understand LinkedIn, or didn't care, or both. That's changed, at least among those professionals.
"It's a presence in your life that wasn't there a few years ago," says a (LinkedIn) member who works for a firm of accountants. "You can't walk into a room without everyone having looked everyone else up on LinkedIn."
Now everyone needs to catch up with the next move or
risk being seriously left behind. If you are interested in knowing where LinkedIn is heading, in the vision of its current leadership, you should read this article. They are not interested any more in attracting just professionals.
Get this.
"They are limited only by the size of the world's labour market."
Slideshare is one of my favorite social tools. But until recently, when LinkedIn acquired Slideshare, I was frustrated by not being able to access its Pro features (I could have for $19 or $49 a month, but there is a practical limit for most of us of what we can sign up for in a sea of attractive social offerings).
Now all that has changed and we can access for no charge what
people have been paying real money for.
LinkedIn says that it will roll out a new feature every month starting in September. The first of these, according to a blog post from product manager Amit Sawhney, will be analytics.
Huge news for all of us who use Slideshare and will now be able to get so much more value from it without having to shell out our hard-earned for the privilege.

PS: I've made a short video (2m 31s) to explain succinctly my VIP Days for Social
Business Strategy. And it points to where people can get more info. If you know a business owner who is looking feeling overwhelmed about social media but wants to get across it, and you would like to share the link (after you have watched the video, of course), I would be most grateful. Comments/questions welcome: here is the link http://youtu.be/MycI9-FNtoo
PPS: If you are not on the list
yet to receive Social Business Bites in your email inbox, and would like to try it, you can register for that at this link (there is an easy unsubscribe link in every update).
