Sub-title:  Here's who's on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and other top social networks now

This is a fascinating article, with infographic, showing age distribution at the top social networks.

Some key points:

  • Pinterest has tremendous reach among women
  • Instagram the most important and most-used social network for US teens
  • Snapchat, Vine & Tumblr the most youthful user bases
  • LinkedInhas high adoption among highly educated and high-income users
  • Messaging apps more broadly popular, but still skew young
  • The ageing of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and even Pinterest
  • 83% of Google+ users are 55+

"It may seem like a lot of work to make your YouTube channel the next big thing, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. Go step by step, and you’ll start to get the hang of it. You might even end up having some fun, too!"

Although I don't make the full use I can of YouTube, it's an extraordinary thing, when you think about it, that with YouTube we have a gift from Google of what is effectively our own online TV channel.

This article explains a straightforward approach to get more value from YouTube.

"It’s essential for full time content creators or people who want to be known as content creators to have their own personal space to highlight expertise and grow community."

When it comes to having an online platform to share your story and promote your services, there is an abundance of possibilities to choose from. And they all make great promises. Trouble is, you are not doing the best deal for yourself unless you use your own platform, which basically means a website and/or blog you host and can control completely and move anywhere and anytime you choose.

In this post, Deb Ng, Conference Director at New Media Expo, provides ten good reasons for this. It's a thoughtful, informed, balanced article. And she is not saying you should not submit content elsewhere, rather that you should give your own site priority.

New, regular newsletter on Leadership coming soon

In line with some re-focusing of my business on executive leadership coaching, with social media strategy as complementary to that, in coming weeks I'll be publishing a weekly newsletter on executive leadership for the digital age

I'll announce that in a separate email to everyone who receives Social Business Bites, and provide a way to register for the new newsletter. I appreciate that some people won't be interested, some may like to get both and some may just want to stick with Social Business Bites.

And yes, I do intend to keep Social Business Bites going.
