BITES

Instagram now 2nd largest social media network

The information in this 1 minute video may surprise you. It did me, and I'm looking again at how I might make use of Instagram in my business.

Facebook Takes Next Step Towards Becoming Publishing Powerhouse   Andrew Hutchinson

Facebook has today confirmed, via an official blog post, that a new version of Notes is now active, with a range of new features and additions to make it a more appealing proposition for bloggers and readers alike.

..

As more publishers come on board, and more people come to rely on Facebook as a content source, bloggers will also be able to capitalize on that attention and build audience by aligning with the shift in reader behavior - a post on your WordPress page might get 100 readers, but maybe, on Facebook, you get a thousand, a big draw.

But of course, building an audience on Facebook also means you’re building a reliance on ‘borrowed land’, and Facebook can change the rules on you at any moment, reducing your content reach and pushing you towards paid promotion. But maybe, by that stage, bloggers will be so reliant on Facebook traffic that they’ll have no choice.

Lethal Generosity and Why Millennials Matter to Your Business - Book Review (by me)

If you read all my blog posts when they are published, you'll have seen this item last week. And you'll know or suspect how important this book is. If you haven't, I hope reading the review will encourage you to grab a copy. The chapter on the Millennials, and why they matter for my business, is a game-changer.

Every now and again a book about technology innovation and business comes along that I’m eager to recommend to my coaching clients and business associates. But after a couple of such recommendations in recent years that fell flat, I’m more selective now.

So I’m pleased to say that Shel Israel’s latest book Lethal Generosity: Contextual Technology and the Competitive Edge definitely makes the cut.
