How to Easily Analyze the Social Activities of Your Competitors
Megan Hannay
This post provides some
practical advice on how to analyze the social activities of your competitors on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, Periscope and Meerkat. It includes a link to a Google Doc template for monitoring. That's just a basic spreadsheet, but I could see how I could adapt and expand it to suit my aims.
A limitation of the post for those of us in the B2B space the post is that it does not include anything about LinkedIn or Google+.
Minds: The New, Super-Private, Super-Open Social Network Aaron Miles
I haven't explored this new network enough to make any useful comment, but the post raises some interesting points about key issues including privacy and business models.
Here are a few short excerpts from the post that explain the story briefly and indicate why on the one hand this could be interesting and on the other why we should probably not get too excited just yet.
The new social platform Minds is hoping to
establish its own space in the world of social networks by doing the opposite of what most successful social networks do.(I.e., the platform is open source and encrypted) ...
What seems to be getting Minds a lot of attention at the moment is the fact that it has the support of the internet collective Anonymous. ...
This isn't the first time buzz has arisen over the possibility of a new site dethroning the current reigning social networks (hi and bye, Ello!) and while Minds will almost certainly not be the new social king, it could live a good life as a healthy alternative.
Lots of
good tips here. And updates, for example on video:
Video has been hot for a few years now, but a lot has changed recently. For example, Facebook has autoplay on video and supports animated GIFs (finally!), and Instagram just announced they’re releasing video ads to all brands.
The four ways proposed for creating standout ads are:
1. Script it for broadcast
2. Use video or GIFs
3. Incorporate humor
4. Provide content downloads
The trick is to create ads that are valuable enough for consumers to willingly click on them. This means getting out of your comfort zone and seeking new methods.
