Various experts consulted, including my friends Lee Odden and Paul Chaney, contribute their considered views on "game-changing" social media trends for 2016.

  • Rise of long form social content
  • The wearable revolution will be social
  • More personalized content every step of the way
  • Think hyperlocal for effective marketing
  • Influencers the key to social success

This article is important for anyone who is marketing or selling social media services, and for those buying such services.

MRC = Media Rating Council

When it comes to reporting and data, the social marketing industry has been very disparate, with companies calling different metrics different things and having no uniformity in measurement. This confusion will now change, and these guidelines should hopefully uphold companies to the same standard in making sure all these metrics are reported in a uniform way.

If Millennials (Gen Ys) are in your target audiences you'll want to read this post.

Most of this generation’s time is spent on technology. More specifically, using that technology to gain access to social media platforms. The networks are constantly updating and changing which prompts so many young people to constantly check and update their profiles. This year alone, there are an estimated 179 million millennial social network users.

The platforms to use to capture the attention of Millennials (in order)
  • Instagram
  • Snapchat
  • Periscope
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • YouTube

No LinkedIn. Surprise, surprise. :)
