Think you know your social media? Take a look at a new infographic from skilled.co, and you might find that you don’t know quite as much as you think. From global penetration rates to influence of purchasing decisions, this new social media infographic provides plenty of information for even the most knowledgeable marketer or social business to digest.

This infographic is seriously amazing although stating in the subject line that these are (all) "things we never knew" is a bit rich, and defining the launch of Facebook in 2002 as the beginning of the history of social media is unduly limiting.

But check it out for yourself. I'm guessing you'll find something interesting!

As the author of this piece acknowledges, the concept of Generation C - in his parlance (and in mine) that's C for Connected or Connectivity - is not new. He defines it as " a new cross-generational cohort made up of digitally savvy folks who create and curate content, build online communities and find and consume products in distinct ways".

There are significant implications for marketing, especially for the allocation of resources for online marketing and engagement.

I’ve come to realize that, in many ways, the concept of Millennials is just too limiting. Businesses have been encouraged to pour resources into marketing to this narrow demographic. HR teams have set their sights on recruiting Millennials and catering to Millennial tastes. But they’re missing the bigger picture.

Gen C isn’t an age group at all; it’s a mindset. There’s no cut-off date. You can be 15 years old or 85 years old and still be a full-fledged member.

As you're reading this, you are clearly Gen C! :)

Free Webinar Series on the Future of Coaching

I know this newsletter is primarily about social media but I seek your indulgence to share my excitement about this webinar series November 2-15. I was a founding member of the host, the International Association of Coaching and I'm honoured to be joining an array of thought leaders in the field as presenters for this series on the future of coaching.

The good news is that attendance is free. The live sessions are being recorded but if you attend the live session you get a chance to ask questions.

A good time to register would be now (not too late!).

If it's not for you and you know any coaches, do them a favour and share the link https://certifiedcoach.org/webinar-series-november-2016/

There are no strings!
