I now have two options for broadcasting live via Facebook - using my Android phone or using my desktop. As I say in this broadcast from yesterday I'm still on a learning curve.

I firmly believe that every business owner who wants to stand out from the crowd is going to have to master this live streaming technology. I'm enjoying the process and if you are considering it for your business I would encourage you to jump in and learn as you go.

In the next issue of Social Business Bites I will include information on how to add captions to your live streaming. This is really important.

In the meantime, this article lists several things Facebook has done to make this an even more attractive way of getting your message out.

We are rolling out the ability to go live on Facebook via a web browser to Pages. A variety of broadcast types — like daily vlogs — benefit from an easy, stable camera setup, and bringing Live to laptops and desktops will make this style of broadcasting easier.

Are Millennials not interested in news? The data suggests otherwise. It also suggests that the sources used by Millennials are not those their parents or grandparents turned to.

Technological advances and increased amounts of mobile usage have played a very large role in Millennial news consumption. A survey conducted by the American Press Institute showed how an average Millennial gets 74% of their news from online sources. These include social media platforms as well as websites like Buzzfeed, Elite Daily, Gawker, and many more.

I really don't know about Snapchat and I keep telling myself I have to get into it so as to be able to discuss it in a more informed way.  In the meantime, here is an article that shows the company has a bit of a branding, marketing and ethical dilemma.

It’s difficult to project what the future holds for Snapchat.

The platform built its reputation on the back of privacy, on being an alternative to Facebook where your content wasn’t saved and where your personal data wasn’t being sold off to advertisers to target you with behavioral-based ads.

But as Snapchat moves closer to an expected IPO, the company’s been forced to re-assess some of those previously held ideals.
