Facebook is changing so frequently, it's hard to keep up. This blog site from adespresso, which is apparently a Hootsuite service, provides a succinct, monthly update of "all the important Facebook updates", with explanations.

For this month of May, the update headings are:
  • Facebook held the F8 conference
  • Facebook advanced its marketing analytics
  • There are now 1.94 billion monthly active users on Facebook
  • You can now play games in the Messenger app
  • Facebook is cleaning up the News Feed
  • Facebook Dynamic Ads are now even more powerful
  • New entry questions for Facebook Groups

Andrew Hutchinson

With his typical thoroughness, Andrew Hutchinson explains in detail the new privacy options on Twitter and what they mean for us as users and for marketers.

The post includes some specific advice for any and all of us who embed tweets in blog posts or websites more generally.

Twitter has announced a new set of advanced privacy options which provide more insight into how your data is being used by the platform, and more control over such information, while they're also boosting their capacity to collect similar insights, based on your web usage.  ...

Basically, Twitter’s giving you more control over your data, but at the same time, they’re going to start using more of it.

Whether you are inclined to be nervous about government intervention in the internet, or tend to believe it's a Good Thing, you may be interested in the possibility of an "industry-wide" levy proposed to be introduced by an incoming Conservative government (their success in the upcoming election being a likely event, assuming the polls are right).

And if one Western democracy does it, I wouldn't be surprised to see others following suit. Then again, we know that manifesto policies often get quietly pushed out of sight once a party is elected. What's your bet on this one?

Social media and internet companies face an industry-wide levy that will fund efforts to counter online crime under a new Conservative government.

The Conservative manifesto...said the money would be used to “support awareness and preventative activity to counter internet harms”.

Could my laser coaching service help your business?

Are you finding it a challenge to get really clear on a business or career opportunity?

That's not unusual.

Laser coaching is designed to help you get the resolution you need.

Laser coaching works on the principle that there is a truth in every situation, a truth that may not always be obvious. Laser coaching brings that truth to the surface and supports the process of facing it square on, and then deciding on appropriate action.

After a laser coaching session with me, business coach Marla Tabaka said this:

In a single, thirty-minute conversation, Des redirected some concerns I had about my business model, introduced me to several valuable resources, and brought clarity to an issue that I’ve been struggling with for months. Yes, all of this in thirty-minutes!

If you are ready to get the clarity you need to be able to take decisive action, check out my laser coaching service at this link.
