So when is the best time to post on social media? A million-dollar question!

Sadly, there is no easy answer to this question. You need to factor in different time zones, the nature and size of your business, and of course, keep in mind that each social network is different.

I'm pretty sure if I looked back I'd find I've included info on this topic in previous issues of Social Business Bites, but the author seems to have done some good, up to date research and I believe it's always good to think about best times for posting. Usefully, the table also includes the worst times.

The infographic is very clear and should be helpful. It will be easiest to use by those posting from, and marketing to, people in the US Eastern or Central time zones. The rest of us will need to draw up comparative tables for our own location and/or the location of people in our main target markets. Not difficult, just a bit time-consuming.

Instagram has recently undergone dramatic changes in the way it operates. On the positive side, you can now post pictures that aren’t square, you can like comments, added Instagram stories and improved their editing tools and filters and you can also go live. On the negative side, they have disabled the ability of many third-party utilities that can help people manage accounts.

The author says changes at IG mean his engagement has dropped. As part of redressing that, he has sought tips from a group of expert users and lists 13 of those here. I'm no Instagram expert but on my reading there is a valuable resource here.

Google, the search engine giant, should buy Snap Inc, the exciting tech startup that was meant to rule the hearts of millennials.

There were rumors about a $30 Billion proposition for the Search Giant to purchase the recently IPO’d “camera company”, but they were all proven to be just that - rumors.

The author does some speculation on what could happen if those rumors were to turn into reality. He sees a lot of upside for both Google and Snapchat.

Key points are:
  • 2 billion new users for Snapchat (probably a few fewer as many of us have both accounts already)
  • Snapchat brings young people, so far elusive to G+
  • Snapchat does engagement well
  • Live TV - Snapchat can help

Whether your view of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is dystopian or utopian, fearful or optimistic, a few moments consideration will remind you that AI is no longer something just for futurologists. It’s not just coming to a business, a car, a house or apartment near you: it’s here already in some form or many.

As the image above indicates, this coming Monday Sept 4 (8.30 am US Eastern time), I'm part of a panel for a webinar on the subject of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Coaching.

The blog post is a bit of a warm up for that, with an outline of some key issues and questions as I see them.

(And as the image shows, I'm getting an award. I'm excited about that and will share a picture of it next week.)

Could my laser coaching service help your business, or that of someone you know?

Are you finding it a challenge to get really clear on a business or career opportunity?

That's not unusual.

Laser coaching is designed to help you get the resolution you need.

Laser coaching works on the principle that there is a truth in every situation, a truth that may not always be obvious. Laser coaching brings that truth to the surface and supports the process of facing it square on, and then deciding on appropriate action.

After a laser coaching session with me, business coach Marla Tabaka said this

In a single, thirty-minute conversation, Des redirected some concerns I had about my business model, introduced me to several valuable resources, and brought clarity to an issue that I’ve been struggling with for months. Yes, all of this in thirty-minutes!

If you are ready to get the clarity you need to be able to take decisive action, check out my laser coaching service at this link
