No doubt, many emails hit your inbox every day. And if your reaction is anything like mine, most of them remain unread.
So I want you to know how very much I appreciate your opening this one.
Especially because, before I re-started about six weeks ago, after a year’s silence, I wondered whether anyone would open these messages and whether it was even worthwhile testing the water, so to speak.
And then were the glitches which required me to send a corrective message rather quickly afterwards.
But still people kept opening.
And while the numbers of people who actually open the messages are down somewhat from when the hiatus began last year, they are frankly better than I’d hoped for.
I’m delighted to say that the opening rates are between 14% and 18%, compared to a range of 11.14% to 18.11% in the pre-hiatus period.
My research, limited as that may be, suggests that upper rate, around 18%, is not bad.
My aim is to get it to 20-21%, which seems to be an average in relevant industry sectors. And of course to grow it beyond that!
A shift in focus
The focus has been on social business, which I felt was appropriate a while ago but regard as too limiting now.
If the newsletter must have a focus – and I think it’s good if it does - I would say it’s what I call “this digital business life”.
To tease that out a bit, future issues will include regular information and commentary on business in the digital age, including forex trading, coaching, social media, artificial intelligence (AI), maybe a bit on crypto currency, also home based business, and other not totally unrelated topics that might be of interest (to me at least and hopefully to you).
If you have any comments, requests, or suggestions on all of that, please let me know. I will appreciate that – and no, I won’t take criticism personally (or if I do, I’ll get over it).
